Abstract
Gerstmann syndrome is characterized by agraphia, acalculia, finger agnosia, and right-left disorientation and is often caused by stroke, tumor, and Alzheimer¡¯s disease. Damage to the parietal lobe in the dominant hemisphere is responsible for the syndrome. Gerstmann syndrome produced by lesions other than the angular gyrus lesion is rare. We report a case of Gerstmann syndrome caused by a subcortical parietal infarct of the left hemisphere on brain MRI.
